Chemical Profiling of Kekabu Seed Oil: Ceiba Pentadra
Chemical Profiling of Kekabu Seed Oil: Ceiba Pentadra
INTRODUCTION
LITERATURE REVIEW
METHODOLOGY Kekabu seed was dried under the sunlig for two days. The seeds then was ground using mortar and pestle to get a fine powder. 450g of the powder seeds powder was put to the 1000 ml conical flask . A 600 ml of nhexane was added into the conical flask. The sample was stored in the dark place for 48 hours (2 days). The sample was filtrate using Watman Filter paper The filtrate was collected and inserted into the rotatary evaporator to distilled out the solvent used. Then 0.1g sodium sulfate anhydrous was added to the oil to remove any water left. About 1l was taken to analyze fo Gas Chromatography (GC)
RESULT AND DISCUSSION The main component in Kekabu seeds oil is palmitic acid (C16:0) and present as 64.4%. The other components that come is 2-chloro ethyl linoleate.
