What is ISO?

ISO, is the initials of the International Organization for Standardization, it is the world largest developer and publisher of International Standards. (About ISO, 2011) It founded on February 23, 1947, the organization promulgates worldwide proprietary, industrial and commercial standards. It has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. (International Organization for Standardization, 2011) This organization sets up and publishes a series of criteria of standardizations, in order to promote and expand cooperation in economy, science and technology.

What is ISO 14001?


The criteria of standardizations set up by ISO include various aspects. Among them, ISO14000 relates to environmental management. And then, ISO 14001 is one standard in ISO14000 system. ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that sets out how you can go about putting in place an effective Environmental Management System (EMS). The standard is designed to address the delicate balance between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact; with the commitment of your entire organization, it can enable you to achieve both objectives. (ISO 14001 Environment, 2011)
