The Details:
Courses are being offered for each content area of the Keystones exams: English I, Algebra I and Biology I. Each remediation course uses PDE-approved content from Odysseyware and is aligned with the PA Core Standards. Courses begin with a pre-test that assesses students prior knowledge and determines specific areas where remediation is needed. Students are then presented with subjectspecific material targeted at those areas that they did not master in the pre-test. Courses are tailored to meet the individual needs of every student by only presenting that material in which they are not yet proficient. Every lesson throughout each of the courses includes quizzes that check for understanding as well as end-of-unit exams. All courses have the support of a highly qualified BVA teacher in our virtual office, and students can email teachers with questions or to request one-on-one assistance. Students are able to progress at their own pace as well as revisit subject-specific areas that require additional practice for mastery. Weekly progress reports are provided to district representatives and any guidance members desired.
