LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY CHAPTER

Fact Sheet Fresh Campus is a student-led campaign established to facilitate the empowerment of college students to cause social change on their campus by focusing efforts on tobacco-free campus policies. The objective of the Fresh Campus campaign is to make Louisiana college campuses 100% tobacco-free. In the 2012-2013 academic year, there were 10 Fresh Campuses across Louisiana. Each campus is a grantee sponsored by the Louisiana TobaccoFree College Initiative. 28.2% of all college students nationwide use tobacco products, indicating that tobacco use spikes during young adulthood due to the stress of growing up and being on their own, but also because they are the most targeted age group for tobacco companies marketing strategies. Fresh Campus LSU focuses on three major events throughout the year. These events include Kick Butts Day, The Great American Smokeout, and the Wellness fair.
