    Racism is defined as the belief that race determines human traits and capabilities, and that racial differences create an inherent superiority of one race over others. Race is a category used to classify humans based on shared physical traits. There are five errors in conceptualizing race: 1) there is no agreement on when to formally name racial groups, 2) classifications fail for populations with intermediate phenotypes, 3) they fail for individuals with ancestry from multiple races, 4) traits can show independent geographic trends that defy classifications, and 5) it is difficult to relate many human populations as distinct evolutionary lineages.
