The document announces a joint seminar hosted by three organizations at Cleveland State University to discuss the history and development of the idea of Active Disturbance Rejection Control. The seminar will be presented by Dr. Zhiqiang Gao and trace the idea from its origins in 1829 in Poncelet's Spring Governor to its modern applications in control systems through Gao's company ADRC Technologies. It provides details on the date, time, location and RSVP contact for the event.

Abstract: “The successes of great conquerors and kings are nothing by
comparison with the effect of a single great thought which springs into the world and spreads itself steadily and irresistibly…” (Egon Friedell) In this talk for the technical and non-technical audiences alike, we trace the journey of such a thought that is 200 years in the making: from its origin in the Poncelet’s Spring Governor in the 1829 France, to its first revival in Shipanov’s Invariance Principle in the 1939 Soviet Union, and then to its renaissance in Han’s Active Disturbance Rejection Control in the 1995 China, and finally to its present day materialization in the U.S. and the CSU’s venture funded spinoff company.
Refreshment and soft drink will be provided!
