GARDEN NOTES
Bush and Container tomatoes placed on the sides, in the middle squares. These are determinate tomatoes they produce fruit early and will not bear throughout a long summer. When they are done, replace the plants with basils. Cherry tomatoes in the middle 4 squares: These tomatoes are prolific and easy to grow. They produce fruit all season and are less prone to disease than the larger-fruited selections. They are the most forgiving of all the tomato plants. Suggest staking each plant individually and surrounding the foursome with a large cage as well. Four outer corners: A beefsteak selection, 2 well-known heirlooms, and one plum selection. They are on the outer edges for increased air circulation and room to grown. They take a bit longer to produce fruit, and will benefit from the early bush plants being removed mid-season. All require staking.
