The Brant Agricultural Growth Roundtable

Brant MP Phil McColeman is inviting those involved across the whole value chain of the Brant agriculture and agri-food industry to take part in the Brant Agricultural Growth Roundtable. The agrifood industry is the number one economic driver in Ontario and represents a key pillar of the Brant economy. Brant is a well-known breadbasket and the profound and wideranging impact of the local agricultural industry extends far beyond those directly engaged in farming. That is why McColemans Agricultural Growth Roundtable aims to bring together representatives from across the continuum of the Brant agriculture and agri-food sector. The roundtable will seek out ideas and feedback on enabling prosperous and sustainable farms and promoting the growth of the Brant farming industry. In addition to inviting individuals and organizations representing the farming community to take part, McColeman is inviting businesses impacted by the success of the local agri-food industry, as well as any organizations or individuals with an interest in a healthy and sustainable agricultural sector in Brant. The roundtable discussion comes at a time with Canada set to implement new free trade agreements with major economies like the European Union and South Korea, giving Canadian farmers unprecedented access to new markets of hundreds of millions of hungry customers. Participants will also be invited to provide feedback on federal programs that support the sector, including Growing Forward II; a $3 billion dollar investment and the foundation for government agricultural programs and services.
