Length of Lesson: Four 45 minute periods
Lesson objectives:
Many students need to learn how to interpret multiplication and division in their everyday life.
This project will help these students to understand the concept of multiplying and dividing like
terms as well as taking good notes.
Curriculum Framework/Standard:
Michigan Common core State Standards for Mathematics: Grade 3
3.OA: Operations and Algebraic Thinking
3.NBT: Number and Operations in Base Ten
3.MD: Measurement and Data
overview : Students will learn to multiply and divide 2-3 digit terms. Students will write their
own story problems incorporating multiplication and division and then they will solve the
problem and when they are done they will present it to the class showing that they understood
the concept.
Materials:
Paper, pencil, eraser, Computers
The students will be using their calculators to help solve the problems.
Websites activites about Multiplication and Division
lesson:
1. I will explain to the students how to multiply and divide like terms.
2. I will show them different methods to solve and we will work together in class to solve
these problems.
3. I will show them website activities on how to solve these problems plus the examples on
the board. I can also provide them with math games so the lesson will stick in their head
a little bit more.
4. Students will open the link to Kidspiration and they will see the diagrams and try to solve it.










5. The students will try to solve the problems and choose the correct answer.
6. After they finish solving these problems I will then ask them to come up and write their answers
on the black board showing me what they understood from the lesson.
Assessment:
The next day the students will get a quiz on this assignment.
Students will be able to answer
the exercise about multiplication.
