HISTORY
Rugby originated from England
the game was played way before the 19th century but
the rules werent made until mid 19th century
Some believe that Rugby was born in 1823 to William
Webb Ellis who didnt really make any rules
It is said that he just took the ball in his arms and ran
with it and it was born

RULES OF RUGBY
rugby is played over 80 mins (40 each half )
Players hold their own position such as forwards ( like linemen in
football) and backs
plays stop win a try is scored or the ball goes out of bounce
in a line-out both teams have a chance to jump for the ball
the ball carrier can move forward but can not throw the ball forward
and the ball can be kicked at any time
a scrum is when the situations have been restarted causing both
teams forward to come together(shoulder to shoulder) to get the
ball back to their side
during a kick-off the ball HAS to be drop kicked

professional in 1895 unlike Rugby union which became
professional 100 years later. The first Rugby league had
its first world cup in 1954 hosted by France, but won by
Britain.The first Rugby union cup was in 1987 held in
Australia,and won by New Zealand
