DP 2 Biology Theme Unit

Glogster Project

INTRODUCTION
This May you will be taking your IB Biology examination. The Biology exam consists of three
papers; each paper addresses all of the topics covered in 11
th
and 12
th
grade. One of the best
ways to learn about Biology is through the Arts. The arts can encompass many different medium.
In this activity you will be creating a Glogster page that addresses one of the 10 Biology topics
from an Arts perspective.

Time: 2 block periods (1.5 hours each) to create the page, approx. 3 days to find the resources for the
glogster page.
OBJECTIVES
IB biology has 10 topics; the assessment statements (or objectives) for all of the chapters are
linked below. You will need to choose the assessment statements that apply to the chapter you
have chosen to learn more about.

IB ASSESSMENT STATEMENTS
ACTIVITY/PROCESS
Step 1:
Create an account on Glogster
Students will log in to their Google email
Students will go to edu.glogster.com
Students will click student, and sign in with Google
Fill in the required information using the ID number provided by your teacher

Step 2:
Choose a Biology topic
Students can choose their own topics
Teachers can assign topics based on the areas students most need to work on
Teachers can provide a randomizer for topics
Step 3:
Research/resources
Students will view the resources provided on the example Glog
Students must find or create art resources to answer each of the assessment statements in
their topic.
Music, artistic works/drawings, and physical education activities would all be considered art
resources.
At least 2 of the resources must include either video and/or sound

Step 4:
Create your Glog
The Glog should include, video and/or sound, images, graphics, text, and links
All images should be copyright free or images with permissions
When addressing the assessment statements student should list the assessment statement
number (ex. 3.3).
Students should properly cite any resources used as text.


Step 5:
Create an outline/Self Assess
Students will view the Glogs of their classmates and put together outlines for each of the
topics to use as a study guide
Students will publish their study guide on their website from lesson one
Students will use the rubric provided to complete a self-assessment of their own work.
