LITERACY focus standard
CCSS: RI.1.2 Identify the main topic and
retell key details of a text.
Students will learn to tell what an informational text is
mostly about based on details from the text. They will be
given ideas to select from, and then will cite details from
the text to validate their selection.

MATH focus standard
CCSS: Geometry 1.G.3 Partition circles and
rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe
the shares using the words halves, fourths, and
quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and
quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of
the shares. Understand for these examples that
decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller
shares.
