Tour of Memphis Field Trip
Our Tour of Memphis field trip is Friday, May 9
th
. Students are asked to
wear their class shirts, shorts/pants, and comfortable shoes. In the event of
rain, please bring an umbrella or a disposable poncho. They may bring a
small amount of money for purchases at A. Schwabs Dry Goods Store.
They may also bring a camera, preferably disposable. Students are NOT
allowed to use camera on cell phones. This is a school-sponsored field trip,
so school rules are to be followed. Chaperones are asked to arrive at
Rivercrest at 8:00 A.M. We will load charter buses and depart shortly after
school buses have been unloaded. Please remember to bring lunches.
Promotion Attire
We cannot believe the school year is coming to a close so quickly. The
fifth grade teachers are preparing for the Fifth Grade Promotion
Ceremony to be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. in the
gymnasium. We are requesting the young men wear black pants and
white shirts with red ties. The girls are requested to wear black skirts or
pants and white blouses. Girls should not wear strapless, tank top, or
spaghetti strap style blouses or dresses.

More Important News
This week we are not reading a story from our basal
series. We are reading a trade book entitled Volcanoes by
Seymour Simon. On this newsletter, you will find our
vocabulary words for Volcanoes and this weeks Words on
the Vine list along with their meanings for the week. It would
be helpful if you will reinforce the meaning of these words at
home with your child. Please practice the spelling of these
words as well. Lets have a great week!
