Low Fat Sarahs Golden Rum Cake Recipe
Serves 16




Ingredients

-1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
-1/2 cup fat-free milk
-2 eggs
-1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
-1/2 cup canola oil
-1/4 cup dark rum
-1/4 cup butter, cubed
-2 tablespoons water
-1/2 cup white sugar
-2 tablespoons dark rum

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and
flour a 10 inch Bundt pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, milk, rum, oil,
applesauce and eggs; beat on low speed for 30 seconds.
Beat on medium for 2 minutes. Pour batter in the pan.
3. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a
toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Let sit for
10 minutes in the pan, and then turn out onto serving plate.
Brush glaze over top and sides. Allow cake to absorb glaze
and repeat until all glaze is used.
4. To make the glaze: in a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar,
1/4 cup butter, cubed, 2 tablespoons water, and 2
tablespoons dark rum. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook
and stir for 4-5 minutes or until thickened.
