The annual National Association of Letter Carriers "Stamp Out Hunger" National Food Drive will take place on Saturday, May 10th. The food drive helps stock local community food banks, pantries, and shelters by having letter carriers collect non-perishable food donations from along their mail routes. It is the world's largest one-day food drive and was started in 1991 by the NALC, US Postal Service, and AFL-CIO to help those in need, especially during difficult economic times. Residents are asked to leave food donations near their mailboxes for collection.
