After reading Homeless Bird I noticed certain stereotypes about India and
negative innuendos about their culture. I enjoyed reading the book although I would
agree with the student, I would rather teach that book to High School students due
to all the negative realities of the culture in India. The book displays the true-life
scenarios of individuals living in India, which is important for students to learn in
order to experience different ideals of the world. It is vital that students are cultured
in all areas even though if it concerns harsh realities of different cultures. Through
the book the reader is exposed to arranged marriages, diseases, poverty, deceit, and
abandonment.
