Christian: Eastenders

The character I have chosen is Christian from Eastenders, in the soap he is a

homosexual but from first impressions you would not think so because from
homosexuals in other soaps such as coronation street that particular character is
often presented being very feminine and obvious about his sexually orientation. But
in his case he often hides it unless he is sure he will not be discriminated against. As
you can tell from the picture he is very muscular which means he take on a more
masculine traits which goes against most stereotypical homosexuals as being ultra
feminine, light build and with very little muscle. Another point to make is that they
are often said to be very fashionable but as you can see in this picture he is only
wherein a plain brown vest which means he doesnt care about the where he
dresses in relation to how fashionable it is. Finally homosexuals are often preserved
to have high pitched voices and lisps but once again Christian disproves this by
having a very deep Londoners ascent. I think Christian represents a more realistic
perspective of a homosexual man as in he is relatively similar to straight men one
most levels.
