HOSPITALIZED DIARRHEA CHILDREN AT RSUP H. ADAM MALIK MEDAN YEAR 2011

abcdefA Drug Related Problems (DRPs) is undesirable patient experience that involves drug therapy and that actually or potentially interferes with a desired patient outcome. Within the scope of specialist treatment, related to DRPs events, the pediatric ranks the second place after the internal medicine. Diarrhea remains a public health problem in developing countries such as Indonesia, because of its morbidity and mortality are still high. This study aims to identify Drug Related Problems (DRPs), included indication without medication, medication without indication, wrong drug, dosage too low, dosage too high, adverse drug reactions, and drug interactions, in hospitalized children diarrhea in RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan year 2011. abcdefThis research was conducted with descriptive design and the data acquired retrospectively for medical record. The patients criterias as a subject in this study were hospitalized in RB4 ward RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan during January- December year 2011, children with a diagnosis of diarrhea with/without comorbidities, children cured by home or ambulatory. abcedfThe results show that out of 47 patients, 30 patients (63.82%) experienced DRPs. The most commonly type of DRPs was medication without indication, 19 cases (29.69%). The following DRPs were dosage too low 14 cases (21.88%); indication without medication 11 cases (17.19%); dosage too high 10 cases (15.63%); drug interactions 10 cases (15.63%); wrong drug (0%); and adverse drug reactions (0%).
