Our Classroom Technology
We are lucky enough to learn together in a 21
st

century classroom. This means that everyone has a piece
of technology! At the front of the room, our SMART
Board allows us to interact with technology in every
lesson. Every student has their own piece of technology,
and will be given the opportunity to rotate multiple
times during the day to have the maximum exposure.
Every student will be able to use a desktop computer,
ThinkPad laptop, iPad, and iPod Touch. Using this
technology will allow everyone to demonstrate a sound
understanding of technology concepts, systems, and
operations (Content Standard 5, Goal 5.1). Employ your
creativity to learn, communicate, and work together
(Content Standard 2, Goal 2.1).

Meet Chauncy the
Chameleon
Everyone will get a chance to
learn and practice how to care for our
classroom pet, Chauncy! Learn why
chameleons blend in, what they eat,
and how to take care of them!

Parents, Get Involved!
Parents, you are just as much of an important part of our classroom as your young learners! Lets partner
together to foster a love of lifelong learning, and an excitement for education. A 2002 study on parent
involvement found that students with involved parents are more likely to:
Earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs;
Be promoted, pass their classes, and earn credits;
Attend school regularly;
Have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school; and
Graduate and go on to postsecondary education (Henderson & Mapp).
Volunteers in the classroom are always welcome. You can view your childs electronically submitted work,
missing work, and grades at any time on our School Fusion or Edmodo page. Each Thursday, your child will come
home with their Thursday Folder, which will include a printed version of their weekly progress, a list of any missing
work, and any comments needed. I want you to know what were doing all the time, so there are no surprises for
you or your child! Success is the #1 goal for 4
th
Grade Superstars!
