I am Maha Abdullah Alghamdi. Since I was in high school, I have been attracted to the
field of Chemistry. In fact, I like lab and creativity, which I found in Chemistry. Understanding
the Chemistry field assists people to create, innovate, and discover something beautiful for our
world. Therefore, I decided that studying Chemistry would be my goal.
In 2006, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Education in Chemistry with honor
from Princess Nora University in Riyadh. In 2015, I graduated with Master of General Chemistry
from George Mason University in Fairfax.
I still have a profound interest to pursue my studies in the US, and that interest has
always fueled my efforts to seek distinction and make every effort to turn my dreams into reality.
I hope to become another US education alumnus. After my experience at George Mason
University, I decided to pursue my PhD from George Mason University for many reasons. First,
GMU is one of famous university in America. In addition, US educational system is well-
established and very justified. Also, as one of GMUs student, I can see that all the requirements
for graduate school fit me. I am sure that I will spend good time at George Mason University.
Furthermore, the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and The Saudi Arabian Cultural
Mission (SACM) have provided me with a list of distinguished and recommended universities in
Chemistry field, among which was George Mason University. They also granted me a full
scholarship to study in the US in one of these highly esteemed schools. I am sure that GMU will
be the place for me to channel my profound interest and fulfill my dreams. I am sure; I will
achieve my professional career objectives and academic goals.

When I graduate, I am going to go back to my country. Also, I am confident that my
study at GMU will allow me to prepare myself to serve my country as a teacher so I will get
perfect job. I hope my papers get your consideration so I can improve the education in my
country and make beautiful contributions for the world.

Admission Requirements
The Chemistry and Biochemistry PhD program is intended for students who have completed an
undergraduate program of study in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field. Applicants are
expected to have a BS degree with a minimum GPA of 3.00, and acceptable GRE and TOEFL
scores (if applicable). Applicants with a BS degree in other fields of study who have at least three
years of chemistry or biochemistry coursework may be accepted provisionally and may be required
to successfully complete selected remedial courses, some of which may not be applicable towards
PhD requirements. Interested students should submit a completed GMU Graduate Application, three
letters of reference, official reports of GRE and TOEFL exam scores, and a personal/goals
statement outlining their general research interests and career plans.
