THE OPPORTUNITY
David was asked by Nick Mason to join Pink
Floyd.
He promptly accepted, replacing Syd
Barret as lead guitarist and singer of Pink

Under Davids leadership, Pink Floyd created The Dark Side of the Moon

THE RESOLUTION
On July 2, 2005 David Gilmour and Roger Waters played at the Live 8 show together.
They buried the hatchet between them, resolving all negative feelings toward each other.
David ended up donating all his resulting profits to charity foundations.

SYDS UNEXPECTED
APPEARANCE
Recording of Shine On You Crazy Diamond was underway on June 5, 1975.
Syd unexpectedly shows up to the studio, drastically changed in appearance.
The first verse lyrics in the song explain his horrific transformation:
Remember when you were young,
you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now theres a look in your eyes,
like black holes in the sky.
