I am personally using the following:
A Dell T-110 PowerEdge Server (Quad Core with 16GB RAM)
Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V (as the parent system)
Multiple (child) VMs running Server 2008 R2 or Server 2012 and
serving as Domain Controllers or Member Servers

Being able to follow along through the course is
not necessary but it is recommended
