Jonathan Daniel
British Consulate-General Chicago
625 N. Michigan Avenue Suite 2200
Chicago, IL 60611
11/March/2012
Dear Mr. Daniel
I am a junior at Loras College interested in interviewing for a job as an intern for the Policy &
Communication team. I believe that British Consulate has the ideal culture in which to pursue my goal of
beginning my involvement with the international community and contributing to the Consulates
outstanding record as a center for US-British affairs.
Academically, my extensive course work in both the Political Science and International Relations
department at Loras College has allowed me to gain an understanding and appreciation for interactions
and community involvement. I also have studied abroad at the University of Santiago de Composetela in
Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain. As a part of that class, I worked for the International Courses
Office examining their marketing strategies, as well as other institutions, in an effort to discover the
most effective and efficient manner to promote their upcoming summer course as well as Fall academic
semester . This rewarding experience working for the International Courses Office sharpened my desire
to continue in this field and helped me develop the tools I need to be an effective in communication
with the international community.
My previous summer work experience as a Student Intern with the 21
st
Ward Office in Chicago, as well
as my experience working for Borders Inc, has provided me with a strong base of communication
knowledge and helped me learn how to develop and work on several projects at once, work quickly and
efficiently, and further developed my interest in becoming a cultured individual.
I firmly believe that I will be a good fit in the British Consulate innovative environment. Thank you for
your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Geovanni Almanza
