2013 Coverting AutoCAD files to Inventor files Geneva Wheel

2D Design Reuse
1. Go to the website:
http://www.sdcACAD.com/acad2011/Geneva-Wheel.dwg
2. Save the file to the desktop and open the file from inside AutoDesk Inventor.
The background color of the drawing will be black.
3. Double Click on the Model (AutoCAD) on the model browswer (shown in red).

4. Use your mouse to select just the front view of the Geneva Wheel. It is shown in green below. Do
this by clicking and draging using the left mouse button.



5. Create a new standard part file
6. Create a new 2D sketch.
7. In the the AutoCAD drawing file cut the front view of the drawing using control-C then switch to the
new part file and Paste the front view of the Geneva wheel on to the the 2D sketch on the new part
by using a Control-V.

8. To help extrude the part delete some of the unwanted lines and geometry. The red dashed lines
are construction lines and can be deleted or trimed.

9. Extrude the part to 0.500 inches as shown.





10. Create a new 2D Sketch on top of this part and draw a circle with a 2.500 inch diameter. Click on
finish sketch.
11. Extrude join the space between the hole and the circle to a distance of 0.500 inches.













12. Add a 3D fillet of 0.250 inches. The part is now finished.
