JOB DESCRIPTION

Art therapy definitions vary. It can either focus on


dealing with the art-making process as therapeutic in
and of itself ("art as therapy"), or on the
psychotherapeutic transference process between the
therapist and the client who makes art. The therapist
interprets the client's symbolic self-expression, as
communicated in the art, and elicits interpretations
from the client. It is also a form of expressive therapy
that uses the creative process of making art to improve
a persons physical, mental, and emotional well being.

Salary: $35,000 - $70,000 a year

Would work around 50+ hours per week
This profession is not as common as others, but
is starting to gradually pick up. It was starting to
become a little more common in 2010.
Demand depends on region and location that
your in. Some areas are in need of art therapists
more than others. I may have to move
somewhere else to find a job in this certain
profession.
JOB OUTLOOK / WEAKNESSES
DAILY & WEEKLY RESPONSIBILITIES
Anyone who would work as an art therapist would have many
daily and weekly responsibilities including checking in
patients, and helping patients cope and heal with art. I would
talk to patients about their life and feelings, ask them to
create something to express them in a creative way. Read
into and analyze their work. Help them with their problems.
