Hormones

Hormones are classes of chemicals that are produce in glands know as endocrine
glands.
They are transported by blood circulation to a distant target organ.
Men produce hormones in their testes and women produce them in their ovaries.
The mayor endocrine glands are:
Pituitary
Pineal
Thymus
Thyroid
Adrenal glands
Pancreas
Hormones regulate a variety of physiological and behavioral activities, including:
Digestion
Respiration
Stress
Mood
Reproduction
Sleep, Excretion


Hormones work in the long term irreversibly and usually slowly.
Hormone formation may arise at localized clusters of specific cells know as endocrine
glands.
Certain hormones are water soluble
Endocrinology is a branch of science about hormones
Plants also produce hormones, also known as auxins.
