Alternate Chromatic Fingering Exercises for Clarinet
Exercise 1
III. The "Fork" F Sharp Fingering
by Kyle Coughlin

"
Te "fork" key is the small thin key that you press with the third fnger of your right hand. It produces
the pitch B natural in the lower register and F sharp in the upper register. It is very helpful in fast
chromatic passages. Use the "fork" fngering for every F sharp in these exercises. Doing so will help
you get used to that key. Always practice these exercises with a metronome. Start at a slow tempo
and gradually speed up. Always use your third fnger to press the fork key!
