"I cannot meet the Spring unmoved --"

By Emily Dickinson
[Analysis]
I cannot meet the Spring unmoved -- [1]
I feel the old desire -- [2]
A Hurry with a lingering, mixed, [3]
A Warrant to be fair -- [4]
A Competition in my sense [5]
With something hid in Her -- [6]
And as she vanishes, Remorse [7]
I saw no more of Her. [8]
Poem 1051 [F1122]
"I cannot meet the Spring unmoved"
Analysis by David Preest
[Poem]
As in such poems as 65 and 844, Emily here describes the special effect Spring has on her. It both hurries to its end and lingers. It gives
promise that all is 'fair.' The magic in the spring competes with the magical elation in her heart, though, as spring departs, she is sad that she
had not noticed its magic more.
