Solve all the problems in class itself

Problem 1:
1000 kg of 13% K
2
Cr
2
O
7
solution is being feed into an
evaporative crystallizer to remove some amount of water. If the
yield of K
2
Cr
2
O

crystals is 80%, calculate the amount of water
evaporated. Solubility of K
2
Cr
2
O
7
is 0.390 kg mole per 1000 kg
water. Molecular weight of K
2
Cr
2
O

= 294. Assume no water of
crystallization with K

crystals.

Problem 2
1000 kg of sodium carbonate solution containing 25% Na
2
CO
2

is subjected to evaporative cooling, during which process 15%
of the water present in the solution is evaporated. From the
concentrated solution Na
2
CO

10H
2
O crystallizes out. Calculate
how much crystals would be produced if the solubility of
Na
2
CO
3
is 21.5 gm per 100 gm of water.
