    Synthesis and characterization of weather resistant coating

    Introduction

    Paint is a fluid that dries to form a continuous solid film when spread over a surface or
    substrate. Depending on its type and properties, paint can perform one or more
    functions. A paint system is basically composed of primer/sealer, undercoat and
    topcoat.

    Synthesis of weather proof coating

    The synthesis will require the following chemicals:

    1. Thickeners
    • Nitrosole
    • Thiloze
    • Pyrole
    • Mergal

    1. Foamer
    • NH3

    1. Pigments
    • Alumanium silicate
    • Microdol
    • China clay
    • Microle

    1. Binder
    • Acrylic
    • Texanol
    • Methyl ethyl glycol

    1. Perfumes

    It mainly includes two types:

    1. Physical
    2. Chemical

    Physical Characterization:

    • Weight per gallon


    • Viscosity
    • Drying time
    • Color
    • Flash point
    • Ph
    • Storage stability
    • % non volatile content
    • Volatile organic compound content

    Chemical Characterization:

    • Structural analysis.
    • Thermal analysis.
    • Dynamic mechanical analysis.
    • Thermogravimetry.
