COURSE INFORMATION

LAND LAW 1
(LAW 504)
COURSE OUTCOME
At the end of the course the students should be
able to :
Understand and apply the concepts of real
property estates, derivative estates, basic
principles of equitable ownership, registration
under the Torrens System, co-ownership;
Evaluate the nature and efficacy of property law;
Application of legal principles to problems solving.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Focuses on the rules of statute, common law and
equity governing the ownership and use of real
property, i.e land and building. It deals primarily
with situations involving private ownership of
lands; the rights and duties thereby enjoyed and
owned by a private owner over the land in his/her
right and vis--vis his/her neighbours, and the
methods where land maybe transferred.
