Game Rules:

1. The game starts at the 0-yard line.


2. A gain of yardage means move to the right along the number line.
3. A loss of yardage means move to the left along the number line.

4. A touchdown means move all the way to the right to the 50 yard line.
5. A penalty means move to the left along the number line.
6. Each play picks up where the previous play left off.
7. The Tigers win if they finish the game on the positive side of the field.

Use your knowledge of integer addition to work out each question below. Refer to the Playing Field to help you
complete these problems.

1. The quarterback ran for a 7-yard gain.


2. The running back was tackled for a loss of 2 yards.
3. There was a 15-yard “unnecessary roughness” penalty called on the tight end.
4. The wide receiver caught the ball for a 30-yard gain.
5. The full back was tackled behind the line of scrimmage and lost 5 yards.
6. The quarterback could not avoid the blitz and lost 7 yards.
7. There was a 10-yard holding penalty on an offensive lineman.
8. A screen pass gained 11 yards.
9. A lineman blitzed and tackled the quarterback for a loss of 17 yards.
10. The halfback broke a tackle and gained 13 yards.
11. The quarterback got sacked for a loss of 16 yards.
12. The offensive lineman was offside for a loss of 5 yards.

13. The offensive lineman protested the call and received a 15yard “unsportsman-like conduct” penalty.

14. An end around gained 6 yards.
