7.1 Guided Lesson Plan #1 Summary Description Cell phone use in Public spaces Focus Question: When and where to use cell phones? Additional Questions: 1. Should cell phones be banned in school? 2. Should teacher be the only ones to have phones on? Lesson Goals/Objectives: To decide where and when cell conversations are appropriate. Tools/Resources Needed: Power point explaining students the background history of cell phones. With examples of the advantages and drawbacks that mobiles have. Activity Description: 1. Have students have a mock cell phone conversation where they are being loud talking about inappropriate topics in different places such as church, theater, school, etc. 2. Texting could be useful in crowded places, have students to text with one of their classmates in the target language. The conversation has to be about technology. 3. Make a debate in the target language: divide the classroom in two groups, pro and con, and make them to come out with good reasons why is good, when is appropriate, and where is appropriate to use cell phones. Lesson Extension Ideas/Activities: Have the class discuss cell phone issues with their friends. Have them come back to class and share ideas how they and their friends think that cell phones should be used in schools and in public.
