Roger W. Falcone, Professor of Atomic, Condensed Matter, and Optical Physics
UC Berkeley
366 LeConte Hall #7300
Berkeley, CA 94720

Dear Mr. Falcone:

As a dedicated student, I am applying for an internship with your research group. My success
and devotion in all of my AP classes including AP Physics and AP Calculus would make me a
valuable part of your research group in the field of condensed matter physics.

Over the past three years, I have taken all four AP and Honors science classes. This has
allowed me to focus in my interests on the field of physics. Because of this interest, I would be
honored if you would allow me to increase my knowledge under your leadership.

I am currently set to attend UC Berkeley in the Fall of 2014. My goal is to graduate with a
degree in physics in four years, and then begin my graduate studies. In todays scientific field,
research experience is extremely valuable which is why I am excited to hopefully take
advantage of this opportunity to work and learn from you.

I am excited to hopefully talk with you and discuss my potential to contribute to your research
and learn more from your knowledge. You can reach me at 209-777-1703, or by email at
ttsano@berkeley.edu.

Sincerely,

Tyler Sano
