The document provides information about integrating core arts standards with common core reading standards for kindergarten. It lists standards about describing the relationship between illustrations and text, and identifying similarities and differences between texts. It also provides standards for describing functional and non-utilitarian art, and art that shows people doing things together. Two idea starters are presented, including having students identify shapes and elements of art in a story using adjectives, or comparing and contrasting illustrations in different versions of a folktale.
