Who is affected?
Heart Murmurs can affect a child or an
adult.
What are the types of murmurs?
There are two types of heart
murmurs: Innocent and Abnormal.
Why do people get heart murmurs?
Heart Murmurs can be present at birth
or develop, but are not a disease. Most
people have heart murmurs because
of Congenital heart defects.

Definitions
Innocent Murmur-
Occur when blood flows more rapidly
through the heart

Abnormal Murmur-
A structural problem of the heart

A heart murmur is an extra or
unusual sound heard during a
heartbeat. They range from very faint
to loud and its sometimes a
whooshing sound.

Treatments
The type of disease causing the heart murmurs
are examined to know the correct type of
treatment. Treatment will also depend on the
severity of the defect. Certain treatments can vary
from medicines or even surgeries. Although the
medicines will not cure it, the effects can ease
complications from symptoms.
