Kiwanis International was founded on 21 January 1915, in Detroit, Michigan by Allen Simpson
Browne, a Moose lodge organizer and Joseph G. Prance, a tailor.
Since its founding, Kiwanis has grown to about 9000 clubs in 82 nations, with more than
50 000 members. The motto of Kiwanis is : WE BUILD.
In Malaysia, there are 18 Kiwanis clubs across the countries, with more than 400
members. The first club, Kiwanis club of Kuala Lumpur, was chartered in 1976 by the then
returning Ambassador to the U.S, Bapak Kiwanis Tan Sri Khir Johari.
