Can we predict the future? Its the year 2014 and we have found two students who believe that they can predict the future! 100,000 years to be exact! They have used Darwins Theory of Evolution to predict how they think it will look 100,000 years into the future. We met up with them for a private interview with the two young girls, Natalie Nally, 15, and Leah Padgett, 14, are both Viking New Tech students. They are fresh- men here at Huntington North and have both been given a special assignment as they are to predict the future! They were to use Darwins Theory of Evolution to use one animal or insect and to show how they think the it will adapt or mutate throughout the 100,000 year time period from 2014 to the year 102,014! They predicted that, that even still with this harsh and very long winter for this year, that global warming will con- tinue and the polar ice caps will melt and start to flood the world. They be- lieve that the world would eventually be a hot and very damp swamp-like envi- ronment. They used tarantulas, and funnel spider bodies, jump- ing spider eyes, and dragon fly wings to create a new and evolved species. They called their creation, phobia; for it is almost all of their fears stuffed into one living insect. The smaller and less capa- ble of surviving insects would die off (natural selection) and the ones that would survive would Start to cross breed, with a few unexpected mutations along the way. The mutations would most likely be caused by the runoffs from factories and old houses and vehicles left underwater after the floods said Leah. Phobia is a new species of spider that can fly (due to mutated dragonfly wongs), will be much larger (due to adapted appetite habits), will have n=much larger eyes (natural selection, jumping spider eyes) to see larger prey and too see their environment better, and can glide on water like most spiders can already do due to the little hairs on their legs. They ay the spider will become much larger due to an adapted appetite habit, and they have evidence fore it. Tarantulas as the size they already are, which is an average of 4.75 inches, can already eat small birds, insects, frogs, small snakes, lizards and small marine animals such as fish!
