Night Essay
In many books faith plays an important role. It can be the motive or reason for living or just the
drive for that character. Faith can make a book interesting with it change amongst the
characters. The book Night was written by Elie Wiesel. In the book Night faith is what Elie once
live for. It changes thrue out the book. This change in the book is what kept Elie alive, and not to give
up.
Elie was a very faithfull kid he beleved in god. I met him in 1941. I was almost thirteen and
deeply observant. By day I studied Talmud and by night I would run to the synagogue to weep over the
destruction of the temple(3). His intiyer life was bilt aroung faith. He lived for god. His drive was his
faith in god and this was what kept him alive.
Elies faith changed from god to his father. I had no right to let myself die. What would he do
without me? I was his sole support.(87). Elies faith layed with his father it was what cept him going. He
could not die because he could not fail his father. He would stay alive for his father. Putting all his faith
with him. Father I said, you cannot stay here (105) he would do anything to keep his father alive
because with out him Elie was nothing. He would do anything humanly posable to keep him alive. and
even would tell his father what to do.

Once Elies faith was lost he was lost. He had nothing to put his faith in after his father died.I
shall not describe my life during that period. It no longer mattered. Since my fathers death(113). There
was nothing left for Elie to believe in. he almost became anamolistic I spent my days in total idleness.
With only one desire: to eat.(113). He could only servive no human trates were left, he was lost with
out anything to believe in, live for, or just have faith.
Elies faith chang thrue out the book. He whent from very faithful to not faithful in a year. This
book Night was written by Elie Wiesel. Elies faith was his drive, and with out it this book would be much
difrent from how it was written. As you could see from the quots with out his faith he was nothing. He
almost became anamolistic.
