Being able to retell the story that you have just read
lets Mrs. Tunnell and I know if you were listening.
Today we are going to use a SMART Board activity to
help us remember all of the important parts of a story.
Introduce the SMART Board activity and the five
elements. Have students repeat.
Read the three little pigs and fill in as a whole group.
Ask through turn and talks on the appropriate pages:
How can you describe the setting of the story?
How can you describe the characters in the story?
How can you describe the events in the story?
How can you describe the conflict and solution?
Pick another story. Have students fill in on their own
papers as we read the story and then share out to fill in
whole group. Pause after a story element has been
revealed to have students fill in chart.
