My journey to IB starts in elementary school. I was in the first grade, and terribly bored of school. To give me some sort of a challenge, my teacher, Mrs. Melendez would send me to second grade classes to hear more advanced lessons. Thanks to her, she started off my desire to gain knowledge of my world. Mrs. Melendez began a spark in me to not only know the minimum knowledge needed to ace the next test, but to want to know everything about everything. Throughout elementary school, I excelled in everything. That did not change in middle school, as well. However, as schooling gradually got more difficult, so did getting straight As. In middle school, one thing I did not have knowledge of, or need knowledge of, was how to study. My typical ninety-eight percent and above in every subject started turning into barely nineties. Thanks to the help of a special science teacher I got my grades back up to my high averages. I was lucky enough to get the privilege of calling this person dad. Throughout my schooling career, he helped and encouraged me along the way. My father passed away November fourth of 2012, just days before I was expected to shadow at Strawberry Crest High school. Receiving my acceptance letter from Strawberry Crest, and every other school I had applied for was a hard day for me, because it was a day I had expected to share with my father. That day, I made a one of the most important choices of my life. I decided that I would go to Strawberry Crest, not only because I did not wish to go to my home school, but also because that day, I made an internal choice to be a person my father could look down on, and be proud to say Thats my daughter. From that day forward, I thrived to live my life like my father had; by working hard. Had God not given me those two people I my life, I would never be here today.
