EXTRACTS FROM THE PROTECTION OF CHILDEREN FROM SEXUAL OFFENCES ACT, 2012

2. (1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise reqires,

(d) child means any person below the age of eighteen years;

42. Where an act or omission constitute an offence punishable under this Act and
also under any other law for the time being in force, then, notwithstanding any thing contained
in any law for the time being in force, the offender found guilty of such offence shall be liable
to punishment only under such law or this Act as provides for punishment which is greater
in degree.
