Strategies to motivate students to write:

- introducing them to an exciting character or indicating a popular figure they are


acquainted with and asking them to write about that person focusing upon aspects of their choice
(appearance and lifestyle, accomplishments and career, family and leisure activities);
- starting to tell an exciting story and stopping at a breathtaking turning point, then asking
students to use their imagination and complete the rest;
- organizing a brainstorming activity and ask students to take the ideas that would come
up and mix them together in an amusing text;
- organizing a writing competition and awarding medals andor diplomas at the end;
- playing writing games in the classroom such as writing a story with the participation of
all the students! the teacher can set the time and place of the story in the first phrase and write it
on the blackboard" #hen, the first student can write the second phrase or the first wordwords of
the next phrase" $nd so on, until all students have done so"
- helping students with planning their writing after announcing the task (teaching them to
select ideas, make notes and decide on the content of the text as well as its form)"
