Soliloquy
How dangerous is it that this man goes loose! Yet must not we put the strong law on him.Hes
loved of the distracted multitude, who like not in their judgment, but their eyes. And where tis
so, Th' offenders scourge is weighed, But never the offense. To bear all smooth and even, this
sudden sending him away must seem deliberate pause. Diseases desperate grownBy desperate
appliance are relieved, or not at all.
Claudius is aware of how dangerous Hamlet has become and he wants him to be dealt with by
punishing him. However, the crowd will pay more attention to the punishment than the actual
severity of the crime Hamlet committed. Claudius knows the people love Hamlet, so he must
find a way to get rid of Hamlet and he finds that he can send Hamlet to England and have the
king kill him.
