OBJECTIVE: Students will Determine a focus for What Do I Stand For essays through analysis of quotes, poems, and read alouds and by writing responses to a questionnaire.
DO NOW: 1. Make sure you have all parts of homework written down and turned in. 2. Pick up the question sheet at the front of the room and write your responses at your desk seat. *Nas Quote: The strong rule the weak, but the wise rule the strong AGENDA (Heart of the Lesson Part 1) 1. Return questionnaires from last class and transition to desk seats. 3. Students work individually writing What Do I Stand For essays and revisiting questionnaires for guidance 4. Regroup, share some stands students are writing about and reflect on the work we are doing (writing) with the Nas quote from earlier - what does it mean to be wise?
