What makes a tragic play?

Tragic plays involve a protagonist of high estate who
falls from prosperity to misery through a series of
reversals and discoveries as a result of a tragic flaw
which is generally an error caused by human frailty

A tragic play usually has a sorrowful or disastrous
ending that excites pity or terror
