Shailyn, small seriously injured eleven years old; just fell down the mountain and is disoriented
with memory-loss.
Parent, finds Shailyn and has training in medical things.
Rescue 1, a certified medic; trained in rescuing people from dangerous places.
Rescue 2, another certified medic; trained in rescuing
Setting: Shailyn is lying on a granite slab surrounded by cliffs and trees. There are both living
and dead broken trees around. Her shoes are about 10-15 feet away from where she is. Youre
located at the edge of another cliff.
Act 1, Scene 1
A panicky parent is searching for Shailyn, after her falling down the mountain. She is
disoriented and wants to call her mom.
PARENT
Shailyn!? Shailyn!?
SHAILYN
(Rub your eyes and attempt to stand up from a fetal position)
What?

PARENT
(Shout in a scared, panicky voice)
Dont get up you just fell down a mountain! Wait for help!
SHAILYN
Where are my shoes? Did you take my shoes?
PARENT
No, Ill go look around for them. Stay here and dont move.
Act 1, Scene 2
Parent came back with shoes and a cellphone in hand. He also alerted the staff to call help.
PARENT
Did you move?
SHAILYN
No, did you find my shoes?
(Attempt to sit up)
PARENT
(Pushes on shoulders to prevent)
Stop trying to sit up, you fell down a mountain.

SHAILYN
Nothing is wrong with me, I just got lost, after wandering off.
PARENT
No, you fell down the mountain.
SHAILYN
I couldnt have, I dont remember it.
PARENT
Well you did.
RESCUE 1
(Shout)
Hello? Where are you?
PARENT
Down here! Be careful, there is a drop.
SHAILYN
No, I didnt, I am fine. I just got lost wondering off with my friend.
PARENT
You didnt get lost, you tripped and fell.

Act 1, Scene 3
The RESCUE team has arrived with a board, neck brace and IV. They have set up a rope system
to pull Shailyn up the mountain.
RESCUE 1
Hey, how are you feeling?
SHAILYN
I feel fine, just let me go home.
RESCUE 1
I cant let you do that, now I am going to put this in your arm.
SHAILYN
(Scream and flail until they put the IV in)
Noooooooo! Noooo!
RESCUE 2
(Slides Shailyn onto board and starts to strap her down)
RESCUE 1
(Struggle to put the IV in her arm.)
It wont hurt, just hold still.

Well try harder; we need to get off the mountain and to the helicopter.
RESCUE 2
I got her down.
RESCUE 1
Okay,
(Turn to Shailyn)
I am going to have you grab my partners hand while I put the needle in.
SHAILYN
(Flinch in pain)
