Calculating Blower RPM without a

Tachometer
Patrick

How to Calculate Belt Driven Blower RPM without a
photo-tachometer
1. Record rated motor RPM from motor name plate.
2. Measure the motor sheave (pulley) where the outside of the belt rides, this is
effective diameter.
3. Measure the blower sheave (pulley) where the outside of the belt rides, this is the
effective diameter.
4. Multiply the motor name plate RPM by the motor sheave effective diameter and
divide by the blower sheave's diameter. This equals Blower RPM.
EXAMPLE #1
3450 3.5" 12" = 1006 RPM
EXAMPLE #2
1725 4" 6" = 1150 RPM
