To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased for the opportunity to write a letter of recommendation for Ms. Lindsay Winter as part of the
application requirements for her to become employed as an early childhood educator. I met Ms. Winter
when she enrolled in one of my childrens literature courses. It was then that I gained first-hand
knowledge concerning Ms. Winters acumen as a student and as a person.

Ms. Winter is a conscientious student who demonstrates a willingness to learn. She brought to my
classroom a genuine eagerness and an enthusiastic energy to actively participate in her own learning
process. For example, she volunteered for assignments; she expressed thought-provoking ideas; she
asked questions that probed into the depths of class discussions, and she made valuable contributions to
classroom activities. In addition, Ms. Winter worked well individually, and she was a good team player
when assignments called for a group activity. In short, Ms. Winter was the kind of engaged student
teachers enjoy having in class.

Another attribute of Lindsay Winter is her ability to take criticism. She listens attentively and asks
questions to make sure that her understanding is clear. Then she moves forward to strengthen any short-
comings that have been pointed out to her. She is enthusiastic about learninga trait that is infectious. I
foresee her working with children and demonstrating much excitement for learning. Finally, Ms. Winter
is an on-going student/learner which is an outstanding trait for one who is looking toward a career as an
educator. She has an array of talent, skills, and interestsmusic, languages, hiking, drawing, and so
forthwhich equips her to broaden students educational experiences.

As a person, I observed that Ms. Winter is easy-going, good-natured, and helpful. Moreover, she
willingly shares her ideas, experiences, knowledge, and attention with others.

The aforementioned qualities I have cited regarding my relationship with Lindsay Winter as a student,
and as a person beyond her role as student, will translate well into her new role as employee. Therefore, I
contend that Ms. Winter has the makings of an early childhood educator who will be an asset to the
profession.

Sincerely,
