A three-phase bone scan was performed on a patient with reported left foot pain. The scan showed symmetrical blood flow and pooling in both feet. Delayed images revealed mildly increased tracer uptake in the mid tarsal region of the right foot, likely due to stress-related changes, but no abnormal uptake was found in the left foot. The bone scan found no evidence of the reported left foot pain.

EXAMINATION: Three Phase Radioisotope Bone Scan. INDICATION: ?RDS of left foot. PROCEDURE: Bone scan was done with 26.2 mCi of Tc-99m MDP injected i.v. to the patient under Gamma Camera. Immediately, dynamic study was acquired to see perfusion of both lower legs and feet. Later, blood pool images were acquired of the same region. Two hours after the injection, static spot views of the same region and rest of the body were acquired. FINDINGS: Angiographic phase and equilibrium blood pool images show bilaterally symmetrical perfusion and blood pool in both feet. Delayed images show mild increase tracer accumulation in mid tarsal region of right foot. No abnormal tracer uptake is noted in left foot. Rest of the imaged skeleton shows no focus/area of abnormally increased tracer uptake in bony skeleton. COMMENTS: Mildly increased tracer accumulation in the right foot (mid tarsal region), most likely due to stress related changes. No scan evidence of RDS of left foot.
